Thwaite Gardens visit

Thwaite garden volunteer, Steve Howe hosted Skipsea Gardening Club members on a tour of the gardens and greenhouses.

Following a welcome introduction with refreshments, members were guided through the grounds, formerly part of Thwaite Hall,  which feature many unusual plants in herbaceous borders, a winter border, herb garden, bog garden, alpine beds, sub-tropical beds, Salvia bed, Mediterranean and Antipodean beds.

The Thwaite tree collection is an important collection of mature rare trees containing four National Champion Trees and 31 Yorkshire Champion Trees.

The gardens are not open to the general public, although members of the Friends of Thwaite Gardens are able to visit at specific times of the week.
